Spitfire is a boat with a rich history. She was built by Alex Lacco in 1951 for a pilot who flew Spitfires during the war. Later she was sailed by fisherman Dugga Beazley of Port Melbourne for many years and has quite a story to tell.

William Atkin design inspired by the great Colin Archer north-sea double ended rescue boats. Sister ship to the famous Sydney-Hobart winner and design namesake "Ingrid" (see photograph, 1952-53 Sydney to Hobart race.). Very tidy boat, and to quote Tim Phillips; The best classic cruising yacht project I've seen available for a long time.

This vessel has been in the 1 family since new and the owner is keen for her to be restored and to go to a good home. Accordingly he is willing to reduce the price from $50,000 providing it can be demonstrated that Indi will undergo a comprehensive restoration.

She was built in 1927 and spent many years as a lifeboat on the ROSNY ferry which went back and forth across the Derwent, until they built the Tasman bridge.
She is in sound order and has rigging, sails, oars and a solid trailer included.
She is currently at Somers, across the mornington peninsula in Victoria.

She has been totally re-furbished, lovingly cared for and enthusiastically raced, winning the “Portsea Cup” in 2009, the “Round Mud Island Race” and many others.
