John and his team recently used a 5.8R VSR RIB during his campaign for the 2009 Etchells world Championship.

Wooden Boat Shop recently supplied two 5.8C VSR ribs to the organising committee of the Perth 2011 ISAF world Championships. The event scheduled for 3 - 18 December 2011 is the biggest Olympic class sailing regatta on the world calendar. It is expected that most of the teams representing nations at the championships will be using VSR ribs.

"For our Emerging Nations Program that we are running as a lead up to Perth2011 we needed two RIB coach boats. From a coaching point of view the vertical bowed VSRs were an obvious choice. They are capable of keeping up with a RSX board sailing over 20 knots and at the same time keep the coach dry. They are well built, economical and even came in our aqua blue colour."

The emerging nations program that is an initiative of the Perth 2011 committee intended to give emerging sailing nations a leg up in the sport. The idea of this program was a key factor in the success of Perth's bid for the events.

The smallest model of the VSR boats. Model dedicated to serve for small sailboats classes operations and support.
Small regarding the size, but rich on room onboard. The unique hull shape and seagoing ability are parameters resulting in good proportion of inertia and levels of deceleration working over a prolonged periods of time. This pays off as less stress to human body, safer and comfortable handling and use of the boats itself. The boat is characteristic with dry ride over the sea increase the crew comfort.

The low weight and specific hull design makes perfect weigh/power ratio the boat performs great with power range around 25HP maximum to 40 HP outboard engines heaving low fuel consumption.

There is a list of features for example:
• Design features preventing damaging boat over a day use
• Internal plastic fuel tank being free of corrosion and possible fuel leakage improving the weight balance
• Hydraulic steering minimizing the movements of the hydraulic parts to avoid leakage of the systems and its possible failure
• New type of deck antislip finish making the boat maintenance and cleaning easier
